Criminology and Queer Theory: Dangerous Bedfellows?

Thu, Nov 17, 2:00 to 3:20pm, Hilton, Jackson, 3rd Level

Abstract

In this presentation, Matthew Ball, author of Criminology and Queer Theory: Dangerous Bedfellows?, examines the multiple points at which queer theory and criminology can intersect, and argues that criminologists ought to engage with the more disruptive strands of queer scholarship as part of the development of the field. He will suggest that navigating the tensions between the 'dangerous bedfellows' of queer theory and criminology can be a key component in confronting the social and criminal injustices experienced by LGBTIQ communities.
