New York City (NYC) Subway system is used by millions of people in any given day for commuting, school, and leisure activities. The study shows women are more likely to utilize public transit than men. The current study utilize two crime data: NYPD sex crime data for 2012 (N=1,368) and Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) sex crime data between 2008 and 2012. There are three crime types in MTA data: Rape (N=27); Sexual abuse (F) (N=87), and Sexual abuse (M) (N=591). The study will compare sex crime patterns in and around NYC subway systems to understand patterns and risk of sex crimes in New York City.
