• In Event: Media and Public Perception of Serial Killers and Criminal Investigative Profiling

Abstract

Criminal investigative profiling has been the subject of a number of movies and television shows. Criminal Minds is arguably the most popular television series that focuses on the use of criminal investigative profiling in solving crimes. Unfortunately, its popularity has also contributed to the spread of misleading information about the nature of criminal investigative profiling. This study will examine misleading representations of criminal investigative profiling in the hit televisions series and discuss the reality of such investigative technique. Policy implications and recommendations will also be discussed.
