Victim Needs Assessment in Iowa: The Voice of the Crime Victim

Fri, Nov 18, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Hilton, Prince of Wales, 2nd Level

Abstract

On behalf of the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, ICF International conducted a state-wide needs assessment of victim services to identify the gaps and strengths in service delivery for crime victims. The results from this needs assessment will be used to help inform state funding decisions and ensure that programs and services are responsive to the needs of crime victims and service providers. This presentation will provide an overview of the methodology and results from Phase II of the needs assessment: crime victim data collection. This phase uses data collected through focus groups with more than 100 crime victims across the state to assess the strengths and weaknesses of crime victim services in Iowa. Implications for policy-makers, practitioners, and researchers will be discussed.
