Instructor is My Career Choice

Thu, Nov 17, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Hilton, Ascot, 3rd Level

Abstract

It is not uncommon for a Criminology and/or Criminal Justice department to have several instructors within the department. How a department utilizes instructors varies widely, but instructors tend to be paid less and teach more and larger classes than tenure-track faculty. There are many issues that can arise when a department utilizes instructors; particularly for someone whose career path is to stay at the instructor level. I intend to discuss some of the challenges long-term instructors face and provide suggestions on how to handle some of these challenges.
