A Content Analysis of Civil Gang Injunctions in the United States

Abstract

Civil Gang Injunctions (CGIs) are strategies used by jurisdictions across the U.S. to control alleged gang members. In this roundtable, we will be presenting findings from our content analysis of existing civil gang injunctions across the United States. We will focus upon similarities and differences in the framing of these social control measures. In addition, we will consider the implications of these frames for the gendered, classed, and raced experiences of these populations deemed to be nuisances.
