Bikers are well known for embracing violence as part of their hyper-masculine culture. Some members of these clubs also participate in serious organized crime which can end in violence. Traditional violence is usually a non-lethal display of male dominance which is rarely lethal (Davies 1998; Spaaij 2008, while violence between criminal gangs has high rates of lethality (Decker et al 2008; Rios & Shirk 2011). This paper studies documented incidents of violence between Biker clubs differentiating between traditional and OC events to determine if there is a cultural difference in the performance of violence. It draws conclusions about violence which may help profile the background to events driving conflicts between clubs.
