A Further Analysis of the Current Social Movement in Venezuela

Abstract

In the last 16 years, the Venezuelan society has witnessed the development of several protests that did not evolve to social movement until now. The current Social movement has evolved to the point that the possibility of social changes is evident. However, the cycle of violence against the opposition party has increased since April 2016. Unofficial statistics stated that approximately 39 individuals were killed during the protests since April 2016 while more than 1800 individuals have been detained and taken into custody by the government and military police. This movement tendency has increased the social awareness worldwide exposing the aggression and repression against the population by the agents of social control.
The current study is an exploratory and analytical research that will examine the reasons behind this current social movement tendency in Venezuela while taking into consideration conditional factors that have negatively and positively affected the development of this type of social behavior. Moreover, the purpose of the research is to determine and identify a rational variation pattern in the social model that instigated the development of this behavior and the claimed of the need of social changes.
