Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
It has become evident that college campuses are not always welcoming environments for students with felony convictions. Students with felony convictions must overcome obstacles in the admissions process, housing process, financial aid process, and other hurdles in obtaining college degrees. Beyond the typical college admissions and attendance obstacles students with felony convictions also face the stigma associated with the felony conviction label. This roundtable session brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds to offer a discussion on the resources and support services that are needed for students with felony convictions. Additionally, dialogue will emphasize ideas for creating and improving existing campus organizations for students with felony convictions as well as students without felony convictions that aim to provide support and reduce the stigma of the felony label.
