Maternal Anxiety and Behavioral Problems in Early Childhood

Wed, Nov 14, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Marriott, L406, Lobby Level

Abstract

Prior research has provided strong support for the association between maternal anxiety and problematic externalizing behaviors in early childhood. While the findings surrounding this relationship are consistent, there are few studies examining the effects of maternal anxiety on the behaviors of non-biological children. This study was created to compile and analyze current findings on the association between maternal anxiety and behavioral problems in early childhood, and to explore how maternal anxiety differentially affects biological and non-biological children during the early years of development.
