Thu, Nov 14, 9:30 to 10:50am, Nob Hill C, Lower B2 Level

Abstract

The paper will present the issue of victimization and crime among university students in Poland. This topic has not been studied in Poland, and students have not been the subject to criminological analyzes. However, there is criminality in universities and in the student community because students, like every human being, commit crimes. Also, crimes are committed to the detriment of students. This group of people can be both perpetrators and victims of crime. They are also exposed to the experience of various social pathologies such as alcoholism, addiction to cigarettes or drugs or new psychoactive substances. The paper will present the phenomenon of these behaviors in the light of the results of pilot studies carried out among Polish students. The paper will present the results of the diagnostic survey. The aim of the paper is to present what crimes are most often committed by Polish students (both at the university and outside the university). Students are also victims of crime and this will also be the subject of the paper. The author will present the structure of crimes committed to the detriment of students and will characterize them.
