Abstract

NIJ has a longstanding history of funding research on crime prevention and community violence reduction. While NIJ and others have been successful in identifying programs and practices that have been effective in preventing and reducing violence, the goal of achieving sustained community-level violence reduction remains elusive. The goal of this presentation is to discuss NIJ’s past efforts related to community violence reduction and to put those in context of NIJ’s Reducing Violence Strategic Plan.
