NIJ’s Reducing Violent Crime Strategic Plan: Reducing Violence Against Women

Abstract

NIJ has a longstanding program of research on Violence Against Women. The goals of this program of research are to improve knowledge and understanding of intimate partner and dating violence, stalking, and sexual violence through science to best prevent and respond to these crimes. NIJ strives to support objective and independent knowledge and validated tools to reduce violence against women, promote justice for victims of crime, and enhance the criminal justice responses to such crimes. The goal of this presentation is to discuss NIJ’s past and current efforts related to violence against women and to put that work in context of NIJ’s recently released Reducing Violent Crime Strategic Plan.
