Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
Bullying is a subject that receives national-level attention in the United States. It is well known that being the victim of bullying or a perpetrator of bullying can increase the chances of negative life outcomes such as anxiety, depression, or criminal offending. As of 2015, all fifty states in the U.S. have passed anti-bullying legislation, aimed at decreasing bullying instances in schools. Multiple awareness campaigns have also been run in an attempt to change public attitudes and perceptions of bullying. Schools have also implemented their own interventions. This roundtable will feature research on bullying and the effects of changes in laws and public awareness as well as individual school interventions.
