Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
The first-year in a tenure-track position is very important for Latina/o faculty and can have a significant impact on academic success moving forward. For all faculty, this period entails adaptations to new expectations, challenges, and varying levels of institutional support. However, these expectations and challenges can be different for Latina/o faculty. The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss those unique experiences, challenges, and prospects as Latinas/os make important breakthroughs in academe. The panelists will also discuss their experiences of bringing unique perspectives to students as they learn about diversity and social justice in the classroom.
