Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
The body of research studying gender roles among offenders has grown in the past, but little research has been conducted about women burglars. Burglary is traditionally considered a male-dominated offense. Only a few earlier ethnographic samples reported a small percentage of women offenders. The current research is a study of women burglars based upon survey data the researcher team collected from two state prisons. Specific topics of women burglars covered by this topic include motivation, the decision to crime, target selection, temporal dimensions, entry to the target, and departure from the target.
