Studying LGBTQ Issues in Women's Prisons

Abstract

From conceptualization to the realities of sexuality and gender play in women's prison, researching LGBTQ populations in the women's prison population can be very difficult. I will discuss the difficulty of separating behavior from identity and how this impacts the types of research methods and questions researchers should be asking when it comes to understanding the lives of LGBTQ individuals within the women's prison system.
