Guided by the Routine Activity theoretical framework, this study is intended to examine the extent to which online exposure, online network, and a lack of guardianship can predict school students’ encounters of online grooming, sexting, and sextortion. Using a cross-sectional survey to collect data from a stratified random sample of over 1,000 secondary school students aged 13 to 17 from rural and urban areas in Tanzania can not only enrich our theoretical and contextual understanding of OSEC but also provide possible implications for policy and practice for promoting cyber wellness among children and adolescents.
