Existing literature suggests that leadership and organizational justice play an important role in reducing turnover. Despite the critical implications of certain leadership styles and organizational justice, less studies have explored whether the perception of transformational leadership and organizational justice reduces turnover intention among police officers. This study utilizes structural equation modeling with a sample of 13,073 sworn police officers from 85 police agencies across the U.S. Results indicate that police officers who perceived transformational leadership and organizational justice have a lower intention than those who didn’t perceive the leadership and organizational justice. The importance of transformational leadership and organizational justice on reducing police transfer intention reemphasized with the partial mediation effects of job satisfaction and commitment.
