An Essential Strategy for Police with a Strong Community Mandate The Police and Community Engagement (PACE) Program

Thu, Nov 16, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Franklin Hall 2, 4th Floor

Abstract

In this paper we describe the PACE program and how it makes places stronger and safer. Natasha Pratt-Harris and her colleagues from Morgan State University and the College of Staten Island, City University of New York describe the PACE Program and its impact on neighborhood safety in Baltimore. They shows how PACE can change the conditions in neighborhoods that promote safety and security. The law enforcement and crime control mandate is often accepted as the natural way to do policing. This is a remnant of white supremacy/colonialism that must change.
