Training for Human Subject Research is a crucial step towards ensuring that research participants are treated ethically and fairly, researchers are aware and apply the appropriate research protocols, and as a means to replicate best practices when executing a community survey. Training and preparation for recruitment and the community interviews are requirements for the 30+ member Community Research Team for the Baltimore City Police Department Consent Decree Community Survey. The Community Research Team participated in synchronous and asynchronous remote training, which included Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)- human subject research certification. Additional training was conducted during in-field recruitment, and while administering remote interviews.
