Sat, Nov 18, 9:30 to 10:50am, Franklin Hall 2, 4th Floor

Abstract

The Community’s Experiences and Perceptions of the Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) Survey was led by a team of researchers primarily from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, members of the community and university undergraduate and graduate interviewers and recruiters from Howard University, the University of Delaware, and American University. This study was designed to assess the relationship between the community and the BPD, where Baltimore city has been under a Federal Consent Decree since 2017. More than 600 members of the community were recruited to participate in a community survey during the Covid-19 pandemic, including the omicron variant case surge. This presentation will highlight the recruitment and data collection process and challenges during an unprecedented global pandemic.
