Session Submission Type: Panel
This panel will look at Russia's views of and its position in the European security order. It reviews the evolution of Russia's policy towards a European security order starting from the 18th and 19th century as these have been key formative moments, but focuses on the post-Cold war era and discusses the present situation after the Ukrainian crisis in light of the historical trends, interpretations and analogies. Russia's thinking of colelctive security and its relations with the key European security institutions including the EU will be analysed and connected to theoretical perspectives.
