Indiana University (IU) has been a leader in research, language training, and area studies on Russia and Eastern Europe for over six decades. Founded in 1958, the Robert F. Byrnes Russian and East European Institute (REEI) is a long-time recipient of Department of Education support through the Title VI National Resource/FLAS Center program and is currently funded for the 2018-2022 grant period.

At OSU, CSEEES seeds faculty positions and courses, sponsors lectures and conferences, brings visiting specialists from the region to campus, administers a Slavic, East European and Eurasian studies MA program, provides monies for library acquisitions, awards FLAS to OSU undergraduate and graduate students, and maintains a large video library.
The Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies serves as the focal point at the University of California at Berkeley for students and faculty who conduct research and teaching on the geographic region of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
The University of Kansas Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies (CREES) is the only Title VI center of its kind in the Great Plains. A national leader since 1959, CREES advances the interdisciplinary study of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia and serves as a resource for educators as well as partners in business, media, the military, and government.
A long-time recipient of U.S. Department of Education Title VI grants, the center currently awards US/ED-supported Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. CREES, along with the Copernicus Center for Polish Studies and Center for European Studies, comprise the Ronald and Eileen Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, which works in association with the Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies.
The Russian and East European Studies department at Penn is a tight-knit community dedicated to advancing knowledge of a vast and unique region of the world. Our faculty’s interests and expertise span many centuries, countries, languages, and disciplines. Students have access to intensive language and study abroad opportunities.
The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies promotes the study of our region in the form of: language study; providing courses on our region's culture, history, economics, business, and politics; creating opportunities for study abroad and internships abroad; and assisting students in pursuing work opportunities connected to Russia, Eastern Europe and Eurasia. CREEES also serves civic, nonprofit, and business associations with activities in the region; academic leaders and institutions from the region with collaborative agreements with UT and the general public in Texas and the US whose world outlook includes our region.
The Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies advances research, teaching and outreach on the languages, societies and geopolitics of greater Eurasia. The Center’s core mission is to enhance global awareness and cross-cultural understanding in the communities it serves, through innovations and partnerships across disciplinary, ideological and geographical borders.
