Speaking about Ilya Khrzhanovsky’s DAU in 2022, it is worth keeping in mind that the project is almost twenty years in production, and, based on public statements of its authors, is far from completion. Stretched out over decades and ever-extending, DAU seems to progressively fall out of time, becoming a constant on the periphery of actuality. From this perspective, the speakers will be considering the following questions: a) the changed cultural, political and social context of reception; b) the influence that the project had on cultural and social life over the years.
The Grand Style of DAU: Between Reaction and Revolution - Evgeniya Makarova, McGill U (Canada)
On the Architecture of DAU: Capitalist Realism, Logical Conclusionism, and Underpant Determinism - Michał Murawski, U College London (UK)
From Postutopian Conceptual Art to Post-Soviet Retrotopias: The Case of Ilya Khrzhanovsky’s DAU - Alexandre Zaezjev, McGill U (Canada)
