Reframing Rurality: How Empowering Rural Students Enriches Rural Research

Abstract

This study allowed rural students to self-identify and define for themselves what it means to be rural, revealing a more nuanced understanding of their lived experiences. The work considers how this methodological choice could offer a new strategy for scholars to amplify the voices of their participants within their work.
