Homegrown Scholars: A Storying Autoethnography on Entering the Professoriate, Giving Back, and Coming Home

Abstract

This study utilizes autoethnography to illustrate how three scholars of color entered the academy in their hometowns. A commitment to their home community, the desire to give back, and the importance of (re) connecting with family were influential in their decisions. Findings will inform institutions committed to increasing faculty diversity.
