Abstract

Neoliberal imperatives for measurable student success outcomes fuel a nascent predictive analytics industry that skims money and student data off of campuses nationwide. These analytics soothe the anxieties of administrators through logics of preemption. Through promises of preempting student failure, they preempt the future entirely and produce a permanent present.
