Does Experiencing Racialized Aggressions on Social Media Predict Mental Health Outcomes

Fri, November 20, 1:45 to 3:00pm CST (1:45 to 3:00pm CST), ASHE Virtual Conference, Chitimacha Room

Abstract

We examined the impact of racial assaults on social media on the mental health of students of color. Participants included 692 undergraduate students from multiple institutions. Using structural equation modeling, we found that students who report more routine discrimination, on social media and on-campus, also report increased mental health issues.
