Campus-Based Support and (In/)Validation of Students with Foster Care Experience: A Critical Literature Review

Abstract

This critical literature review applies Rendón’s (1994) validation theory to examine how campus-based programs (in/)validate the identity development of students with foster care experience. Neo-critical validation theory (Gildersleeve, 2011) additionally offers a perspective on how dominant practices of programs are often at odds with supporting students’ agency.
