Investigating the Relationship Between Dominant and Non-Dominant Cultural Capital in Higher Education: A Quantitative Study

Abstract

This proposal investigates the relationship between “dominant cultural capital” (Bourdieu & Passeron, 1990) and “non-dominant cultural capital” (Carter, 2003; Yosso, 2005). We examine whether well-tested measures of these concepts capture different types of capital, and how the relationship between DCC and NDCC varies by student characteristics and institutional context.
