62nd Annual Convention | 15th Annual Festival of Media Arts

Welcome to BEA2017!

Once again, BEA’s annual convention will be co-located with the NAB Show in Las Vegas, but we have BIG CHANGES this year. We are returning to the Westgate, but we are kicking off BEA2017 at noon on Saturday, April 22 and we will wrap up our official programming on Tuesday, April 25 night.  The Career Fair will take place on Tuesday, April 25. As always, we’ll be announcing special events and speaker information as it becomes available.

The BEA2017 Convention Spotlight is….. Imagining Tomorrow's Media: Creativity, Innovation and Monetization

Creativity and innovation in media design, development and delivery lead to an increased pace in the roll out of new audio and video services. Broadcast, cable, satellite, OTT and other not yet imagined media outlets will have to navigate the competitive pressures created by a more crowded media marketplace.  Media educators can take advantage of this vibrant media environment to study the impact creative innovations in media will have on our culture, curriculum, pedagogy and practice.

Imagining Tomorrow’s Media serves as a spotlight for the convention, but papers are not limited to this area of research and discussion.  Papers should be submitted to the division that best fits the goals and objectives of the interest division(s) (descriptions are listed on the submission site).  Each division selects up to six papers for presentation at the convention - four for presentation and two as alternates. In addition, a few papers may be selected by divisions for consideration in the Scholar-to-Scholar poster session.

Membership & Convention Attendance
To enter a paper competition, you do NOT need to be a current member, but at least one (1) author of an accepted competitive paper MUST attend the BEA2016 convention to present the paper.  Winners will be notified by mid-January, 2017. If you have questions regarding the submission process, please email the appropriate Interest Division contact person/paper chair.
