64th Annual Convention | 18th Annual Festival of Media Arts

Welcome to BEA2019!

BEA2019 takes place at the Las Vegas Westgate and starts at NOON on Saturday, April 6, and concludes with "Closing Cocktails' on the evening of Tuesday, April 9.

The BEA2019 Convention Spotlight is….. Education & Industry: Mediating the Nexus -- This year’s spotlight aims to increase the dialogue between the academy and the industry to help scholars build new partnerships and expand existing industry relationships, develop curricula in such a way that the insights gained from theory feed into practice, and identify research gaps and foster collaborative research projects with industry partners.

Education & Industry serves as the BEA2019 spotlight, but papers are not limited to this area of research.  Papers should be submitted to the division that best fits the goals and objectives of the interest division(s).  Each division selects up to four papers for presentation at BEA2019 and additional papers may be selected for the Scholar-to-Scholar digital research (poster) session.

Research Symposium - Media Literacy: What NOW? -- Faculty and students are encouraged to participate in this year's Sympsoium by developing and submitting papers that are either theoretical (e.g., meta-analyses, studies that test current practices, commentary on current practices, and/or visionary essays about the future) or applied (e.g., media literacy best practices/assignments/assessments that have worked in classes and/or curricula) scholarship.  Papers tend to be between 3,000 to 4,000 words excluding references, tables and appendices.  All submissions will be peer-reviewed and, if accepted, will be included in Routledge’s Electronic Media Research Book Series.  The deadline is December 1.

Please visit www.BEAweb.org for information on submitting panels and papers.

Program/Panel proposals must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on September 15, 2018 and papers (including the Research Symposium) must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on December 1, 2018.

Research-in-Progress submissions are due December 15, 2018.
