Live mobile video on closed platforms to newspaper subscribers

Abstract

Over the last decade, local paper newspapers have experienced a large decline in the number of subscribers and users and there is Denmark and Scandinavia a great need for new ways of retaining and attracting new users who will pay for content.

JFM is a Danish collaboration of local newspapers who are now trying with the live mobile video format to attract subscribers.

The project will be based on the newly established live video editorial office at JFM in Horsens, Denmark, which will assist the writing local journalists at 14 dailies.
The overall goal for the editorial staff is to get more subscribers to the local newspapers. The video content will not be published on social media, but on the local media's own websites.

Focus on the journalistic mojo working process
The primary ambition of the project is to analyze the new work processes.
I will examine the editorial staff's practical work with strategy and criteria for broadcasts, their settlement and collaboration with local reporters.
Secondly, I will conduct a reception analysis with existing and new subscribers to become wiser about their experience of the live broadcasts.

Mobile video recording is used by the researchers as an anthropological method in the study of the editorial processes at JFM.
