The paper will focus on the integration of peace education into the Junior Secondary School (JSS) syllabi distributed by the Ghana Education Service. The paper will compare a syllabus released in the early 2000s to a syllabus released in 2008, to determine recent syllabi reflect the incorporation of peace education into the syllabi. Using pre-existing and emergent codes based on definitions of peace education set forth by the United Nations and Ghana, the paper seeks to determine the effectiveness of the changes in the syllabi in promoting peace education as defined. The paper will seek to use the results of the analysis of the syllabi to challenge the reproduction theory set forth Bourdieu and to support peace education theory.
