Wed, April 17, 1:30 to 3:00pm, Hyatt Regency, Floor: Bay (Level 1), Bayview B

In Chinese universities, the ethics education seems to be overlooked by educators for many years. Under the influence of easy money and social media, some of the students seem to get lost. The accumulation of wealth becomes the measure of how successful a person is. While attending school, many of the students want to find a job and make money. What has been ignored is the importance of knowledge and the necessity of lifelong learning. The purpose of this literature review is to find out the role of the classic Chinese ethic philosophy in the sustainability education of the Chinese universities since the reform and opening of China in 1978. Through the analysis of existing literature, the author argues that the classic Chinese ethic education is an essential part in the development of sustainability education but has been overlooked by the universities for many years. Thus, to generate a healthy education system, these philosophies have to be included in college education innovatively and systematically.
