Quality in Education Research and Evaluation: An Updated Tool and Guidance

Tue, February 21, 4:45 to 6:15pm EST (4:45 to 6:15pm EST), Grand Hyatt Washington, Floor: Constitution Level (3B), Roosevelt

Proposal

The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the updated research and evaluation quality review tool to CIES participants, including insight into the revision process and the sources consulted to identify relevant international best practices in education research and evaluation. The presentation will connect the research process with eight principles of quality: conceptual framing; openness and transparency; cultural appropriateness; robustness of methodology; validity; reliability; cogency; and ethics. The updated guidance on how to use the tool along with definitions of each of the eight principles of quality and examples will be presented to guide the audience on how to use the tool when they design, implement, and write about their own education studies.
