Analytical Framework for Assessing Key Criteria Influencing Ranking Progress: A Study on U.S. Cities

Abstract

This study introduces an analytical framework intended to identify the key factors influencing ranking progression. A ranking approach is introduced, building on the extensions of Data Envelopment Analysis. The ranking results are integrated into a regression analysis model to examine which criteria exert the most substantial impact on rankings alternatives over time. To assess the effects of various criteria on city rankings the proposed model was applied to 86 large U.S. cities over a twenty-year span. The findings offer valuable insights for city officials, aiding in informed decision-making processes regarding urban development.
