Using Advanced Predictive Models to Improve Nursing Home Care Quality in the United States

Abstract

The process of choosing a nursing home can be stressful for both patients and their caregivers, without any definitive way to determine if the decision is the "right" one. Although the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services typically conduct nursing home evaluations, this study seeks to provide stakeholders with detailed practical insights for identifying quality nursing home care in the United States. By utilizing data from multiple sources and advanced predictive models, we identify a set of key factors influencing nursing home care quality and suggest strategies for improving nursing home care.
