Generative AI in Supply Chain

Abstract

Generative AI has the potential to revolutionize several industries, including supply chain management. Some argue this technology will disproportionately replace humans in many jobs, others claim the creation of new jobs will far exceed the loss. To that end, we ask if society will be better off as a whole? Our response involved using a theory of prosperity for poorer nations (evolved disruptive innovation theory) to guide us in conducting a thematic analysis of news articles exploring the applications, benefits and challenges, application strategies, and trends associated with this technology. The uncovered themes inform a future research agenda.
