In 2011, Renee Lockwood offered a “dissection of the religio-spiritual dimensions of the noted personal and professional growth, training and development LLC, Landmark, and its primary product, the Landmark Forum. She narrowly portrayed aspects of human experience as religio-spirital; used literature from religious studies rather than appropriate literature of educational scholars; and misrepresented basic educational practices and priorities as religious. In a rebuttal response, this curriculum scholar considered the very characteristics of the Forum Lockwood offered, but analyzed them with the appropriate lens of scholars who study teaching and learning. The literature of educational researchers, critical theorists, and curriculum theory scholars, provided overwhelming substantiation that Landmark’s courses are not only sound, but exemplary, educational opportunities. Beyond that rebuttal, in this paper educational scholars and practitioners are urged to consider Landmark’s curriculum and practices as a compelling response to 21st century puzzles and priorities impacting the planet.
