English Abstract

Making the Green Revolution (UNC Press, 2023) examines the bifurcated processes of the rise of a sugarcane agro-industrial sector in Colombia's Cauca Valley, and Colombia's role in the emergence of an international Green Revolution in agricultural science and technology. This is the first full-length monograph in English or Spanish to focus on Colombia's seminal role in the process of the Green Revolution. It balances this national:international scale with the lived experience of the Colombian conflict locally in the Cauca Valley as aid money, scientific research, and politics indirectly benefitted a growing agribusiness sector.
