In the paper the attempt to reveal the development of the history of science in Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania will be presented. The bibliographical view to the sources of a long-running Baltic Conference on the History and Philosophy of Science (since 1958) will be applied. The development of the history of science in all three Baltic States was slow and uneven due to wars, political changes and limited resources, as well as the loss of archival material. The paper will discuss which academic and institutions of historical memory were key players in the early development of the history of science in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The presentation will also discuss the role of academic institutions and institutions of historical memory in the development of the history of science in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
