This paper reflects on the current landscape of the history of science from the vantage point of early-career academics. Drawing on preliminary data from an informal survey of early-career scholars, along with emerging mapping efforts in collaboration with the IsisCB project, this study examines how new researchers understand the field’s boundaries, institutional pathways, and future directions. By combining survey insights with broader data on societies and academic networks, the paper offers a concise, ground-level view of where the field stands today according to doctoral students and early-career scholars.
