This study details a five-year longitudinal design wherein the researchers engaged in community-based participatory research to develop trust between external research personnel and community members on an American Indian reservation. The study details the process of building a communicative infrastructure between stakeholders using a culture-centered communication approach to create and develop trust between members of the team and the community and examines how trust and culture-centered mechanisms intersect.
