NICK COULDRY will provide the context for chapter 13 of the IPSP report and outline its overall argument that today's fast-expanding and complexifying infrastructures for connection, first, offer huge opportunities for organizing for social progress (although opportunities that are very unevenly spread globally and within societies) but, second, generate new social justice issues because of the new power structures that they entail. A critical perspective on the prospects of 'communication for social change' has never been more urgent or more challenging to develop.
