Session Submission Type: Roundtable Proposal
Strategic Environmental Communication and Exploration of Research in Crisis, Risk and Disaster will bring together scholars in the fields of Environmental Communication, Crisis Communication, Public Relations and Journalism. Issues concerning strategic environmental communication are all over the fields of Public Relations, Strategic Communication and Journalism. The challenges of The Flint Water Crisis, the Zika outbreaks, tsunamis, earthquakes, and climate change effect families, organizations, communities, nations and people groups, and larger regions. How we discuss the challenges of these crises and disasters often informs collective understanding of environmental issues. Research in this area is relevant and applicable to international conversations about the environment but also the research and instruction in our fields. International scholars are encouraged to submit extended abstract/proposal of no more than 7 pages. These submissions will be reviewed and approved by a team of preconference organizers, with the expectation the papers will be completed before presentation at the preconference.
