Across sectors, generations, and cultures, the exercise of, and insights about, leadership face severe scrutiny. One has to do some crystal ball gazing to explore what is required for better and different leadership going into the future. The presenters will thoughtfully consider contemporary leadership challenges, explore emerging leadership approaches, and foreshadow characteristics of future-fit leadership.

Detailed Abstract

On many fronts, and in many ways, our insight into and the exercise of leadership are under severe scrutiny. Leadership is in the overheating crucible of a reframed/ reframing world in the throes of radical transformation.
In our paper we would like to gaze in the crystal ball by posing the question: If there is a need for better and different leadership going into the future? If yes, what would such future-fit leadership look like, under what conditions?
We explore the growing crisis around leadership; unfolding, future contextual leadership challenges; profile future, ‘context fit’ leadership; suggest effective future, leadership engagement; and finally, the implications for developing future-fit leadership.
