Asian Diasporas in Latin American Cultures and Media

Abstract

This roundtable will establish an urgent interdisciplinary dialogue about the ways in which Asian Diasporas and Cultures are portrayed in a myriad of media created in Latin American cities.
Our group reflects on academic, archivist, activist and artistic perspectives and practices about at a large scope of registers and platforms, from racist depictions to community oriented celebrations and memorials in magazines, films, telenovelas, cartoons and songs. We will also engage with oral life history interviews and archival documents.
