Session Submission Type: Workshop
Conflicts over resource extraction and environmental issues in general have grown in visibility and importance over the last decade. The workshop focuses on contributions and limitations of emerging environmental governance regimes as a means to resolve tensions, generate greater inclusion of excluded social groups in the policy process, and more effectively protect natural resources. This workshop briefly presents central findings of a cross-regional and interdisciplinary research project on environmental governance (ENGOV, see www.engov.eu) and a new book launched by CLACSO at LASA2015. Then it opens up for critical debate with an eye towards sharpening research ideas and strengthening research networks.
